Hello!

Hi, I want to introduce myself by explaining how I came by my blog name.

My name is Kimberley Day, and I have just celebrated 20! years married to Ryan, half my life in fact! For the first half of my life I was known as Kimberley Best, so, if I’m going to write a blog about making wedding gowns, It really couldn’t be called anything other than “Best Day” now could it?

Plus, with every wedding dress I make, I really hope it will be worn on one of your very best days.

I live in Wellington, New Zealand, with Ryan and two other Best Day’s, our not so small kids. I am now officially the shortest in my family and quite happy about it. Plus our super friendly Staffy called Friday (also the best day?)

This blog will mostly be about all the things that go on in my workroom though. I love to make things, I love collecting beautiful flat fabrics and turning them into beautiful, wearable 3D garments. And I especially love to make wedding dresses. Wedding dresses give me the opportunity to work with some really special fabrics and laces, and to use techniques and finishing details that are not usually a part of sewing everyday clothes (although I enjoy making those too). And I get to work with wonderful brides and enjoy being a little part of planning their special day, I feel so lucky to be doing my job!
